Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to predict the dimensions of perfectionism based on positive and negative meta-emotions in students.
Methodology: The current research was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive and correlational in terms of method. The statistical population of the present study included all students of Azad University, Tehran branch. Therefore, the sample size of the study was determined based on Morgan's table and taking into account the probability of statistical drop and for more certainty, 250 people. In order to sample with the available sampling method by referring to the university and also distributing the questionnaire in the groups of students of Azad University of Tehran Branch in the social messengers, the statistical sample of the research was selected. The tools used to collect information included the standard positive and negative perfectionism questionnaire - Short et al. (1995) and the meta-emotions scale (MES). In this research, the collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS software, Pearson's correlation coefficient and univariate regression analysis.
Findings: The results of regression analysis showed that positive meta-emotions can predict 9.5% of positive perfectionism and negative meta-emotions can predict 12.5% of negative perfectionism in the statistical sample of the study (p<0.01). It also showed that positive meta-emotions can predict positive perfectionism with a beta coefficient of 0.19 and negative meta-emotions can significantly and directly predict negative perfectionism with a beta coefficient of 0.20 (p < 0.01).
Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that the dimensions of perfectionism can be predicted by positive and negative meta-emotions.
