Abstract

The purpose of the current research was to predict health promoting lifestyle based on positive emotions and psychological capital. The current research was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive and correlational in terms of method. The statistical population of the present study included all clients aged 20 to 30 in 2023 who had referred to private counseling and psychotherapy centers in District 3 of Tehran. Hence, the sample size of the research was determined to be 200 people based on Klein's (2016) view. For the purpose of sampling, the statistical sample of the research was selected using the targeted and available sampling method by referring or sending the questionnaire form to the relevant centers. The tools used to collect information included the positive and negative affect scale of Telgen and Watson (1985), the psychological capital scale of Luthans (2007) and the health-promoting lifestyle scale of Walker et al. (1995). Finally, the data obtained by completing the collected questionnaires were statistically analyzed using SPSS software and Pearson's correlation coefficient and multivariate regression. Among the independent variables, positive emotions with a beta coefficient of 0.19 and psychological capital with a beta coefficient of 0.18 can positively predict the health-promoting lifestyle of subjects (p>0.01). It also showed that positive emotions and psychological capital can predict 23.1% of health promoting lifestyle in the statistical sample of the research. Therefore, it can be concluded that it is possible to predict the health-promoting lifestyle of adolescents through the variables of psychological capital and positive emotions.
