Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of short-term dynamic psychotherapy on anxiety sensitivity and depressive symptoms in women with diabetes. The research method of this study was semi-experimental and applied, which was conducted with a pre-test-post-test research design with a control group. All women with diabetes were referred to Shahid Rajaee Hospital in Tonekabon and Imam Sajjad Hospital in Ramsar in the first half of 1404. The sample of the present study was 30 people from the community who were selected using purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups (15 people) and control groups (15 people). The research tools included the Taylor and Cox Anxiety Sensitivity Questionnaire (1998) and the Beck Depression Inventory (1996). Multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) and univariate analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) were used to analyze the data and examine the research hypotheses. The results of the study showed that the difference between the intervention group and the control group in terms of the mean scores of anxiety sensitivity and depressive symptoms was significant (P<0.001). In general, the results showed that short-term dynamic psychotherapy reduced anxiety sensitivity and depressive symptoms in women with diabetes.
